New Balance 903 Named 'Editor's Choice' By Runner's World
May 6th 2008
Boston, MA - Runner’s World, the worldwide authority on running information, has named the New Balance 903 lightweight running shoe an “Editor’s Choice” award winner in its June 2008 Running Shoe Guide.
A low profile, responsive training shoe, the 903 is designed for neutral runners who want to feel lightweight and fast on race day. “Recommended for biomechanically efficient runners with normal arches looking for a comfortable speedwork shoe,” said the Runner’s World editors.
The 903 is designed with innovative New Balance technology including ABZORB® cushioning and NLOCK™ support system for enhanced midfoot support and structure. The incorporation of a more traditional NLOCK™ presentation was a key revision for the 903. Runner’s World editors acknowledged the benefits of this design: “This outstanding update has the same sole as the previous version update but benefits from the addition of flexible N-Lock bands in the upper, which connects the laces to the midsole for a supportive midfoot wrap.”
Two other improvements the NB Running Team focused on in moving from the 902 to the 903 was reducing the weight of the shoe and making the 903 even more responsive and more contoured. Runner’s World editors recognized and noted the benefits of the lightweight trainer: “Testers raved about the results of these updates and commented on the 903’s outstanding fit.” One of the wear testers also applauded the secure fit of the shoe, “The laces stayed tied, keeping the shoe snug. An exceptional go-fast trainer.” The 903 also features reflective details for safety, an Ndurance® rubber outsole for durability, an open air mesh upper for quick drying and an air-conditioned ride and a seamless PHANTOM LINER™ to eliminate chafing and other irritations.
“The entire team at New Balance is extremely proud of this recognition from Runner’s World,” says Eric Vassall, product manager, running at New Balance. “We strive to engineer functional, innovative, and technical products that suit the needs of runners and are thrilled the 903 was recognized for this distinction.”
